On the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture, National Széchényi Library will offer a 50 percent discount from its annual registration fee on Friday January 19 and Saturday January 20, 2018.

World War I on maps. A selection from the collection

This part of our exhibition series focusing on World War I presents not only period maps but also other special documents. For example, visitors can have a look at Turkish and Russian posters, manuscript maps from the occupied Serbia or on Romanian invasion. Toys and paper models distributed during World War I are also presented.

Exhibition about the first Hungarian edition of Complete Works by Shakespeare on the occasion of the János Arany Memorial Year. The first volume (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Othello) was published in 1864, while the last one (Sonnets) was published in 1878. Our exhibition presents publication history including János Arany’s contribution, role and translations of Shakespeare plays.

Beautiful Hungarian Map 2017

The Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics of Eötvös Lorand University and the Map Collection of NSZL invite entries to win the title of “Beautiful Hungarian Map” this year, too. Contesting titles will be exhibited at an exhibition to be opened in National Széchényi Library in 2018.

Chinese–Hungarian modern art exhibition

Sixty contemporary Chinese and twenty Hungarian art works will be exhibited at the exhibition entitled Cultures and Generations: Founders and Heirs of Chinese and Hungarian Modern Art. The exhibition will be opened on December 14, 2017. (Due to technical reasons, opening ceremony of the exhibition will start at 12 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. Thank you for your understanding.)
