Antiquitates literaturae Hungaricae (Hungarian Literary Antiques), a volume by Miklós Révai was published in Latin in 1803, and it had a major influence on 19th-century Hungarian linguistics. In later times, the widely read and frequently quoted book was read by less and less people. Today it is only a title and a year in the history of linguistics. By publishing Révai’s volume in Hungarian, we aim at placing this work in the right context in the history of science. Introductory studies to the volume and notes accompanying the text are meant to serve this purpose.

The volume will be presented on June 11, 2015, in Room 516 of National Széchényi Library. The work will be presented by associate university professor and literary historian István Margócsy.
