Jubilee traveling exhibition of Magyar Grafika

Fifth venue of the jubilee traveling exhibition of journal Magyar Grafika (Hungarian Graphics), celebrating its 60th anniversary, will be Budapest-based National Széchényi Library. The exhibition, to be held between May 18 and June 8, 2016, presents covers of Magyar Grafika (Hungarian Graphics) from 1957 until present, including works of renowned graphic designers and typographers such as Lajos Lengyel, Tibor Szántó, György Haiman, János Kass, István Murányi, Zoltán Nagy, Péter Virágvölgyi, Zoltán Kemény or Péter Maczó.

The exhibition is a travel in time between mid-20th century and present day, allowing you to get to know not only cover graphics but also some workshop secrets of printing technology.

On the covers of the 60th volume of Magyar Grafika, you can observe the history of the professional journal, as well as the development of and changes in the graphics industry, from typography to printing technology.

About Magyar Grafika (Hungarian Graphics):

Magyar Grafika is a technical and scientific journal meant to be used in the printing industry and related fields, celebrating the 60th anniversary of its publication.  It is published by Papír- és Nyomdaipari Műszaki Egyesület (Paper and Printing Technology Association).

Issues of Magyar Grafika are focusing on certain central themes but, at the same time, the journal publishes the latest and most interesting news of the printing industry. Several of the issues also serve as teaching materials in vocational schools. In 2004, Magyar Grafika was granted Award for Editorial Excellence, in 2008 it won 1st prize at the Competition of Hungarian Magazines, while in 2014, it was given special award at the competition dubbed Media Design.

The exhibition will be open between May 18 and June 8, 2016, during the opening hours of the Library, Tuesday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Visitors who are not registered readers of National Széchényi Library can attend our temporary exhibitions for a flat fee of HUF 400. When you are planning your visit, please, bear in mind that the pay desk will be closed at 7 p.m.
