Akademie für Mozart-Forschung (Academy for Mozart Research), the membership of which includes the most prominent Mozart researchers, has supported the work of Salzburg-based Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum (International Mozarteum Foundation) for over seventy years now. The Academy, known under the name Zentralinstitut für Mozartforschung (Central Institute for Mozart Research) before 2004, organizes regular conferences, and it is also the publisher of the long renowned journal entitled Mozart-Jahrbuch

The organization, currently running under the presidency of Ulrich Konrad, elected new members at its general meeting held in April 2019. Head of NSZL’s Music Collection Balázs Mikusi was elected member of the Academy for Mozart Research. According to the statutes, Akademie für Mozart-Forschung is allowed to have a maximum of 25 active (aged under 70) members at the same time. With the election of our colleague, now there is an active Hungarian member of the Academy for Mozart Research, in addition to the so-far only Hungarian “emeritus” member, László Somfai.
