The 42nd Congress of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) was organized by Hungary, and participants of the congress paid a professional visit to the Hungarian national library.

Eighty-five participants of the conference visited National Széchényi Library in the morning hours of September 21, 2016. Following a welcome speech delivered by Director-General László Tüske, guests were divided into four groups, and they visited various divisions of the so-called Special Collections of NSZL. They were shown exclusive chamber presentations of materials selected from the Library’s Manuscript Collection, the Early Printed Books Collection, Theater Collection, Map Collection and Music Collection. Staff members of the collections held 20- to 25-minute lectures about treasures kept in their special collections. According to participant feedback, the program lasting for approximately three hours was an outstanding professional event of the Budapest congress of ILAB.

Having received ILAB members, National Széchényi Library continues its professional work started earlier, and that can result in a fruitful cooperation of the Hungarian national library and antiquarian booksellers.
