Book auction on the “Treasure Island” at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m

Heroes, explorers, innovators – people in all ages were attracted by the secret of remote places and the promise of adventures and treasures.

The title of our auction was borrowed from Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, whose world-famous youth adventure novel was first published as a series in a magazine for kids, between 1881 and 1882.  The hero of Treasure Island, Jim Hawkins is a young boy who has to contend with a whole lot of dangers. You, however, do not have to travel beyond the seven seas, do not have to hire staff or beat the rebels if you wish to acquire treasures. All you have to do is bid and you can have all the wonderful and interesting items of our Treasure Island. Owing them, you can discover the world from the comfort of your armchair and you can get to know everyday and not so everyday heroes, or can acquire books, maps, old money and other prints and objects, “indispensable” for discovery and travel. These items have been offered for the auction by members of the staff and friends of National Széchényi Library.

At our mini auction, the operation and atmosphere of real book auctions are evoked; you are among friends and you can buy items at friendly prices, under playful conditions.

The downloadable auction catalog includes the conditions of participation and the list of works submitted for auction.
