NSZL will host a book presentation ceremony on January 24, 2017. The book gives a general overview of the romantic Hungarian homeland research concepts of the 19th century, according to which some remaining ancient Hungarians could still be found in the valleys of the Caucasus.

The book entitled Hatalmi diskurzusok – A hatalom reprezentációi a tudományokban és a művészetekben  (Power Discourses  – Representations of Power in Science and Art) will be presented in Nyitott Műhely (Open Workshop) at 6 p.m. on January 18, 2017.

From now on, issues of  Könyvtári Szemle (Library Review) published between 1934 and 1935, and volumes of  Könyvtári Figyelő (Library Observer) published between 1955 and 1989 can be accessed in the Electronic Periodicals Archive & Database (EPA).

In 2017, we will continue our series of presentations of integrated library systems. This time, FOLIO communities, organizers and technical experts were invited. Admission to the presentation is free, but preliminary registration on the internet is required if you want to attend the event. We are looking forward to seeing you at the presentation!

There will be a Christmas fair in the Bookshop of NSZL between December 13 and 23, 2016. Books published by the Library, and gifts, postcards and posters will be offered at a 15-percent discount price.
In the past two years, over 180,000 documents arrived from overseas in Hungary via the so-called Mikes Kelemen Program. There are a lot of unexpected treasures and interesting items among the returning documents. On December 9, 2016, our Library opened a chamber exhibition featuring some of these treasures and interesting documents.

Our bookshop will be opened again on Friday January 6, 2017. The so-called Birthday Package service remains undisturbed. After the re-opening of the Library on January 3, packages can be picked up as usual, on Tuesdays and on Thursdays.
Attila Mudrák’s photo exhibition takes visitors to distant places unknown to many of us. His photos take us to remote small villages of the Carpathian Basin, to the borders, both in the geographic and symbolic senses of the word, where nowadays hopelessness and poverty prevail. However, these artistic photos do not reflect decay or hopelessness…
