Introduction of RDA
Preparation of the translation and introduction of RDA is a long process, which is further prolonged by the fact that the rules are currently being revised on the basis of the Library Reference Model issued in August 2017, and the new version is expected to come out only in the second half of June 2018.
According to our plans, introduction itself will be gradual, in line with the international practice, and starting, first of all, with the prescription to use new MARC fields defined to comply with RDA, and with the definition of rules related to data content (e.g. the abolition of abbreviations). Workshops and tutorials focusing on the topic will help members of the librarian community to get acquainted with the new cataloging rules, and later on, we would like to make the transition smoother by way of developing methodologies.
