This issue of Literary Journal is a homage to the many-sided genius of Tamás Cseh, born 75 years ago: the thematic units present the artist’s activity in music, theatre, film and fine arts, as well as his relations with colleagues in various areas of culture and society. In addition to the interviews with Mari Törőcsik, Gyula Maár, László Földes Hobo, and Gábor Hanák, readers can also find an exclusive contribution of Cseh ’s sister who recalls family and childhood memories. Fourteen contemporary writers and poets add their thoughts, essays and confessions, highlighting their favorite quotes of Cseh. The magazine suggests a relation between the role of Cseh as a charismatic singer with the Hungarian collective sentiment during the Kádár era and the political change that followed, originating from his performing culture and capacity of building an audience. The exquisite illustrations are worthy to complete the multi-layer text and express the unique life-work and era of the artist.

Literary Journal, a quarterly joint publication of Magyar Napló and National Széchényi Library is a richly illustrated magazine of more than 100 pages, primarily dedicated to the broad audience, but also well usable as educational material. Its thematic issues always focus on one classical author, period of literary history or cultural phenomenon. Apart from including texts so far unpublished, Literary Journal can also significantly broaden the horizon of re-reading. The previous issues were dedicated to Gyula Illyés, Sándor Márai, Géza Gárdonyi, Gyula Krúdy and Miklós Zrínyi.
