Our volume, built upon the triad of translation, interpreting and interpretation, presents a selection of the pictorial, musical and written “texts” of more than two thousand years.

Our authors explore a variety of works and documents that communicate between different areas of science and arts, sometimes with code switching. They focus on Hungarian and international examples and experiences, mainly in the form of case studies.

While the research extends to narrower and more specialized areas like literary translation and the film, musical and theatre adaptation of literary works that involves code switching and change of medium, the papers primarily analyze texts reinterpreted in several types of art.

The selection of the lectures of the 2016 Research Session of National Széchényi Library was edited by Balázs Mikusi, Zsuzsanna Rózsafalvi, and Ildikó Sirató.

Bibliotheca Scientiae et Artis
National Széchényi Library holds its yearly internal conference, the Research Session to give chance to its researchers to present and discuss their topics, and facilitate a scholarly dialogue between the experts. The selected and edited material of these thematic conferences has been being published from 2010, as volumes of the book series Bibliotheca Scientiae et Artis. The series editor is László Boka, the Director of Research at National Széchényi Library, and each volume is edited by the curator of the related Session.
