National Széchényi Library, keeper of the written Hungarian cultural heritage, presented eleven newly restored decorative albums within the framework of a series of events entitled European Heritage Days.

In 2016, National Széchényi Library continued its large-scale collection protection and restoration project supported by the Prime Minister’s Office of Hungary.

In 2014, in the first phase of the collection protection project, NSZL finished the dedusting of the so-called Munich Collection (some 150,000 volumes), belonging to the General Collection of the Library,  as well as the full restoration of 26 decorative albums.

In 2016, with the handling of the leather and parchment volumes of the Munich Collection, this phase of the preventive collection protection project was completed.

In parallel with this, the project made it possible to fully restore several other decorative works.

The large-scale collection protection work and the restoration of decorative albums were carried out by Pre Con Restaurátor Ltd.

The exhibition will be open until October 12, 2016 in the catalog space on Floor 7, during the opening hours of the Library (Tuesday to Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.). Visitors who do not own a Reader Pass to NSZL can attend our temporary exhibitions for a flat fee of HUF 400. When planning your visit, please, remember that our ticket office is closed at 7 p.m.
