Our Special Collections Reopen!

As of June 15, 2021, the special collection reading rooms of the National Széchényi Library will be open again during the library's opening hours, from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm. Use of the special collections is also subject to the same epidemiological regulations for the whole library and to immunity certificate. Please find here the conditions of use of the special collections reading rooms (reservation, access, immunity certificate, number restrictions, distance limits, use of documents, use of private computers, photocopying, etc.):

  • The shared reading room of the Manuscript Collection, Early Printed Books and the reading room of map collection of Map, Poster and Small Print Collection (floor 6): 9 reading seats
  • Reading room of the Theatre History and Music Collection (floor 6): 8 desks with a larger surface area + 2 small reading areas + 1 seat for working exclusively with card catalogues in the catalogue area
  • Reading room of the poster collection of the Map, Poster and Small Print Collection (floor 5): 6 reading seats
  • Research room of the Historical Photo and Video Collection (floor 7): 4 reading seats

Due to the construction works of the National Hauszmann Plan, access to the national library was restricted. Please note the restrictions on opening hours due to the renovation work on the express elevator.
