PROGRAMS IN THE LIBRARY BUILDING (Wing “F” of Buda Royal Palace):
- On Friday September 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., visitors can join guided tours, led by the curators, of a mini exhibition presenting special book relics of the Reformation, including works by Benedek Komjáti, János Sylvester and Gáspár Károli.
- On September 1 and 2, 2017, you can visit our János Arany exhibition entitled ”Others get laurel only by leaves…” – Treasures, cult, impact history [1] (venue: National Relic and Manuscriptorium exhibition spaces), a great exhibition entitled Hungarian Sound Film Posters 1931–1944 [2] (venue: Corvina Halls), and our Mihály Tompa bicentenary exhibition entitled “The song may not have been forgotten” [3] (venue: Catalog space).
OUR STAGE PROGRAM (venue: Buda Royal Palace, Szentháromság Square, Big Stage):
- On Friday September 1, 2017, 18.00–18.30: Literary historian László Boka, Head of NSZL Publishing House will have a discussion with the authors of a valuable publication entitled Illustrated Album of the Hungarian Anthem [4], published jointly by NSZL and Argumentum Publishing House.
- On Sunday September 3, 2017, 15.00–15.30: Selection volume entitled 24 Carats – Poems by Contemporary Hungarian Poets for the Bicentenary of the Birth of János Arany [5] will be presented by literary historian, editor of the book Beatrix Visy – with the participation of surprise guests.
This year too, a wide range of books will be offered at the pavilion of National Széchényi Library (opposite Matthias Church). NSZL as a Book Publisher has been present on the Hungarian book market with its prestigious publications for years now. The Library publishes 26 to 30 publications annually, based on its unique collection and on the special knowledge of its staff members. On its own or jointly with renowned Hungarian and international publishing houses, NSZL publishes a wide range of books including facsimile editions, decorative albums, conference and study volumes, gap-filling bibliographies and exhibition catalogs. The Hungarian national library also publishes several periodicals and institutional yearbooks.
