[2]The Saint Stephen Association, founded in 1848, is a unique organisation, a church association serving Catholic public education and the oldest continuously operating publishing house in Hungary.
Throughout its long and eventful history, it has sought to satisfy the needs of intellectuals and the general public alike, and its product range has always been extremely varied.
The Society has made a major contribution to the organisation of Catholic society, and its achievements in publishing were recognised a century ago, in 1923, when Pope Pius XI awarded it the title of Publisher of the Holy See.

The joint temporary exhibition of the NSZL and the Saint Stephen Association offers an insight into the history of one of the most important cultural institutions of Hungarian Catholicism, which played a significant role at a national level, through original artifacts, contemporary documents, photographs, books and interactive features.
Temporary exhibition from 13 November 2023 to 31 January 2024
open from 10 am to 6 pm during the library opening hours
(last entry: Tuesday–Thursday 5 pm, Friday–Saturday 6 pm).
For visitors without a reader pass, the following ticket prices apply:
- Full price ticket: HUF 1200
- Reduced price (student, pensioner): HUF 600
- Family ticket for 4 persons: HUF 3000
- Family ticket for 3 persons: HUF 2500
Visitors with a reader pass can visit the exhibition free of charge.
