Under the title Week of Communities, the consortium of the Hungarian Open Air Museum, the Hungarian Institute for Culture and National Széchényi Library will launch a new national event series within the framework of priority project code No. EFOP-1.3.1-15-2016-00001 entitled “Acting Communities – Active Community Involvement”, the first event of which will be held between May 8 and 14, 2017.

The central idea of the event series focuses on community initiatives, social cooperation, active participation, and popularization of the ideal of an open, inclusive society. By the launch of the Week of Communities, we would like to create a new tradition, drawing attention to community initiatives, values inherent in communities, activities of communities operating within institutions, as well as to community building potentials. Cultural institutions, such as libraries, can not only host various community programs but they can also be a driving force for embracing, stimulating and supporting communities.

Who can join the Week of Communities?
Institutions, NGOs and civil communities are all welcome to join the event series. We are looking forward to receiving applications from cultural institutions, museums and libraries, and related friendship groups or amateur art, creative, reading and other groups, as well as tradition preserving groups, church communities, civil and charity organizations, sports clubs and other communities. Applications from both formal organizations and informal communities are welcome.

Full text of the invitation to participate, stating with what kind of programs and how to joint the Week of Communities, and informing about related media campaign can be read (in Hungarian) here.

Registration form and some inspiring ideas to help plan the event series can be accessed on the website of the project.

Application deadline is March 31, 2017, but those who registered until March 3, 2017 will be provided special publicity.
