A chamber exhibition of documents representing the oeuvre of King Matthias's famous astronomer, Johannes Regiomontanus (1436–1476) will be opened in the Manuscript Collection of NSZL, at 10 a.m. on March 22, 2018. The exhibition has been set up in honor of the 550th anniversary of Regiomontanus’ stay in Hungary (1467 and 1471/1472).

Johann Müller (1436–1476), better known by science historians as Johannes Regiomontanus, lived in Hungary between 1467 and 1471/1472. He had gone to work for Johann Vitéz, and then he went to Buda and started working for the royal court of King Matthias. Regiomontanus was one of the most talented mathematicians and astronomers of his time. He worked very actively in Hungary, and offered his works to Johann Vitéz and King Matthias. His works were included in the Corvina, too. Regiomontanus’ works had been printed as early as the 15th century and they were frequently used even in the 16th century. Valuable Regiomontanus editions are stored by the Collection of Early Printed Books of National Széchényi Library, too.
