Meeting of national library leaders from South-East Europe in Macedonia

At the invitation of the National & University Library „St. Clement of Ohrid“, Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General of the NSZL, participated in the 10th SEENL Conference of Directors 2023, the 10th Conference of National Library Directors in Southeast Europe. The event, which took place from 4 to 6 October 2023 in the Macedonian city of Struga, was welcomed by the President of CENL, the Conference of European National Library Foundations, Frank Scholze, and was of great importance for the library profession.

Judit Gerencsér's presentation entitled Actual trends and responses in the library field in the 21st century – with special attention to the National Széchényi Library, Hungary presented the innovative professional responses and initiatives of the NSZL in the 21st century.

Developing and expanding international library professional relations is a strategic priority for our library.  The meeting was an excellent opportunity for the participants to gain insight into current library issues, cooperation proposals and current professional projects of national libraries in the South-East European region. The meeting led to a number of discussions with the heads of national libraries in priority areas such as digitisation, the Turkish-Hungarian cultural year, joint projects on special collections and digital humanities.
