On October 31, 2019, National Széchényi Library will present the system of Heritage Library Documents Register (Hungarian abbreviation: MKDNy), which will be available after its integration in the National Library Platform (Hungarian abbreviation: OKP).

OKP puts the information technology background and data connections of library-museum operations on a new basis nationwide. State-of-the-art IT solutions enable the widest possible collaboration between institutions and researchers. This is an important milestone in the renewal of nationwide services: MKDNy is the first group of modules to be realized in OKP; after that, all the library IT solutions of NSZL (such as MOKKA, ODR, DK, MEK, EPA, ISBN Office, etc.)  will be renewed in OKP, on a modular, distributed cooperation platform by the end of 2020. The presentation covers the results of this process so far, as well as the steps ahead of us.

Colleagues from several Hungarian libraries helped to define OKP, so by way of its modularity, it can be enabled to serve the needs of any library (university, scientific, national, public library, ecclesiastical library, etc.). It is even capable of integrating any other cultural segment (archives, museums, exhibition spaces, etc.). With the help of the revamped MKDNy, to be presented as the first development for the platform, it becomes possible to record and make available the entire heritage book stock of Hungary at several levels of cooperation.

Date of the event: October 31, 2019, 10 a.m.; venue: National Széchényi Library, 4-5-6 Szent György Square, H-1014 Budapest, Wing “F” of Buda Royal Palace, Ceremonial Hall on Floor 6
