Gyula Miklósy’s Journal 1886–1888

Gyula Miklósy, founder of the great dynasty of actors, tried to prosper with his acting company in the 1880s, travelling from settlement to settlement. In his diary, he not only left the everyday problems of theatre making to his readers, but also reported through his successes and failures on the struggles of contemporaneous theater businesses, the theater director maneuvering between creditors and executors, the life of actors and their children, performances, and townspeople.
