National Committee for Library Standardization

At the end of 2015, the management of National Széchényi Library set up the National Committee for Library Standardization (Hungarian abbreviation: OKSZB, Országos Könyvtári Szabványosítási Bizottság), a successor organization of the former Committee for Library and Reference Information Standardization.

The aim of the Committee is to organize and control, on a national level, the standardization and regulation activities of the Hungarian library community, with special regard to:

  • the initiation of the implementation of international standards concerning the Hungarian library community;
  • wording, approval and publication of library regulations and recommendations;
  • initiation of the withdrawal of outdated international standards concerning the Hungarian library community;
  • keeping contacts with the Hungarian Standards Institution (Hungarian abbreviation: MSZT, Magyar Szabványügyi Testület);
  • providing up-to-date information for the library community on applicable standards, regulations and recommendations.
